Washington (Reuters) - "Sneezing, congestion and runny noses from hay fever may be lasting longer because climate change may be extending pollen seasons, doctors in Italy said on Monday."

So the debate on climate change has been raging for a while now, and its effects are starting to hit home. We are (hopefully) coming out of one of the coldest, snowiest and just downright most miserable winters that we’ve seen in a good many years. But the sun is out this morning (we in the Northeast haven’t seen it in about 6 days…) and the smell of spring is in the air. Every year when spring makes it’s much anticipated arrival several things happen, first the days get longer, then everyone gets a little more pleasant and here in Newport the tourists start to return. The only downside is that with spring comes pollen and although the flowers are nice- allergy season is not, and new research suggests that climate change is going to make allergy season even longer.

Well now I’m sold, I can handle massive amounts of snow, I don’t mind El Nino (and La Nina) storm seasons getting worse, but when it starts to affect my breathing and giving me a runny nose (by the way more pollen is going to bring more bees) I for one demand action.
